Title: Project Director/Economic Growth Advisor

Location: Washington, DC Expected Start Date:To be decided -- This position is contingent upon award.

Summary: The Project Director will be responsible for management of leading a large cross-sectoral USAID award, including all aspects of project design and roll out, working with home office, country teams, overseeing subcontracts, and ensuring overall compliance to donor requirements. S/he will provide leadership and technical direction for the overall project design and implementation activities, with specific focus on activities aimed at improving economic growth practices.

Essential functions include [but are not limited to]:

Providing technical administrative oversight and guidance to the project team, and overall financial performance Leading from a perspective of collaboration, transparency and teamwork Serving as the primary client point of contact Developing and costing annual work plans Establishing consistent policies and procedures for the project team, including subcontractors Representing the employer and the project; liaise with government officials, civil society, other partners and clients, funders, and vendors Ensuring the proper the use of appropriate monitoring and evaluation protocols Working with peers to secure consensus about priorities, manage competing workload demands, develop quality technical deliverables Building staff cohesion across different activity areas Managing and optimizing relationships with subcontractors Providing technical leadership in economic development and growth strategies, workforce development, entrepreneurship and SME stimulation and support, including private sector development, agriculture and rural value chains market analysis Contributes to the development of printed or online materials that promote expertise in international youth development. Strategizes, sets business development priorities, in conjunction with the technical team Director, EQUIP3 Deputy Director, IDD’s Director for Business Development and the IDD Managing Director and Senior Vice President; Directs teams in planning for proposal submissions, drafting proposals, and achieving agreed-upon objectives; Supports strategic planning, teaming decisions, negotiations, and proposal efforts across IDD as needed; Develops and monitors progress on technical team business development and advancement goals; Determines resource needs and oversees resource use for business development;

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum of 8 years of international project management or program development experience (either in the home office or field;)

Minimum of 8 years of relevant international development experience demonstrating expertise in economic growth and rural income generation, institutional strengthening and capacity building in workforce development, economic growth, and SME support, WITH A SPECIFIC FOCUS ON YOUTH

Experience providing technical assistance in economic growth and development focusing specifically focused on youth to a range of partners

Successful experience managing USAID contracts greater than $30 million required–Management of large IQC either in the head office or in the field is preferred;

nowledge of best practices and innovative methods for building capacity of youth to meet market demands and generate rural income and economic growth opportunities through a range of entrepreneurial endeavors

Experience in conducting assessments and demonstrated ability to analyze and use data gathered from communities to design effective behavior change strategies

Willingness to travel and work internationally

US citizenship or Authorization to work in the US

Master’s degree in relevant field, PhD preferred
